Mozn Hassan is an Egyptian feminist activist and founder and advisor of \u2018Nazra for Feminist Studies, \u201cThe Caucus of Women in Politics in the Arab Region, and \u201cThe Doria Feminist Fund. \u201cIn her work, Hassan has been involved in various activities and campaigns to address gender- based inequalities and injustices, especially for women human rights defenders and sexual violence survivors. She also works on strengthening feminist movements in organizing and tactics for mobilization, women\u2019s participation in politics, feminist movements\u2019 mobilizations, feminist education, and feminist funding and resources mobilization for Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA). She also writes for different local and international media outlets and academic journals. Hassan was a Global Fund for Women board member and on its audit committee. She also conducts gender and feminist assessments, evaluations, and gender policy consultations in Egypt and the MENA region.<\/p>\n
Hassan received her BA (2000), Diploma in human rights and civil society from Cairo University (2002), and MA in International Human Rights Law from the American University in Cairo in 2006 with a specialization in gender law. The feminist movement\u2019s legal tactics on laws and is currently an MA student in community psychology at AUC with a discipline of practice in gender and mental health in Egyptian policies, along with communal well-being interventions tools of interventions, psychosocial support in communities, especially with women refugees.<\/p>\n
She has received many awards, including the Global Fund for Women\u2019s inaugural Charlotte Bunch Women Human Rights Defenders Award in 2013. Hassan and Nazra were jointly awarded the Right Livelihood Awards, often called the “Alternative Nobel Peace Prize,\u201d in 2016 ” and now serves as a member of its jury committee.\u201d In 2020, Hassan received the Hrant Dink Award for peace, rights, and equality and one of the Shecurity Index for women peace leaders globally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":133267,"template":"","class_list":["post-133145","coordination_com","type-coordination_com","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"yoast_head":"\n
